This model own the voltage monitor function. When the voltages from external power exceed the range 4.7V-5.3V and 11.3V - 12.7V, the power will be cut off. This function avoid the HDD from voltage shock efficiency. It also use an intellective electronic switch. This can avoid large current flow through the switch contact point.
SD3508 have a SATA version SD3508SATA. It is used as SATA HDD USB or eSATA enclosure.
